Making qualified medical expertise accessible anywhere in the world

Communities with weak healthcare systems not only face a lack of pharmaceutical and technical infrastructures, they are also weighed down by the effects of a medical expert brain drain. The country of  Liberia has one medical doctor per 100,000 inhabitants – a major problem when it comes to providing quick and efficient medical relief.

One World Doctors enables medical specialists to offer their expertise to those in need anytime, from anywhere in the world – a Médecins Sans Frontières from home.

About

Medical specialists are invited to sign up to One World Doctors and review cases in their field of expertise. For example, a difficult to interpret laboratory result may be uploaded by medical staff in an epidemic region. The global network of accredited doctors and specialists can access the lab data and provide crowdsourced advice to the staff on the ground – improving the medical care infrastructure in the underserved region.

One World Doctors is all about safe transmission of case data and laboratory results (such as ELISA, qRT-PCR, blood tests). The platform also allows for the collection of metadata from patient samples, which will facilitate prevention of the spread of diseases and pandemics.
